We are experts in tax planning and compliance for corporations and individuals in the US Virgin Islands, the US mainland, and other jurisdictions worldwide. Our tax attorneys draw from decades of experience to provide sophisticated guidance on a host of issues, from securing the US Virgin Islands’s economic-incentive benefits to obtaining tax-exempt status, and from complex cross-border tax planning to resolution of governmental tax controversies.
Founding attorney Marjorie Roberts is a prominent tax lawyer in the US Virgin Islands. She served for seven years as Chief Counsel to the US Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue and for four years as Vice President and General Counsel to the first hedge fund manager to move to the US Virgin Islands under targeted economic incentives for investment companies. She served as an attorney-advisor in the US Treasury Department’s Office of Tax Policy in Washington, D.C., from 1985 to 1988, during the passage of the Tax Reform Act of 1986.
We advise clients on a broad range of tax matters:
Economic Incentive Programs - These incentive programs offer the ability to reduce individual and corporate income taxes by up to 90 percent on income from qualifying businesses and to receive full or partial exemptions from US Virgin Islands taxes including excise, gross receipts, and property taxes, among other benefits. We have extensive experience helping clients qualify for these programs.
Tax Planning - We offer comprehensive tax planning for individuals, corporations, and other business entities. Our attorneys have in-depth knowledge of the income, estate, and other tax regimes in the US Virgin Islands and the US, and we work closely with our clients to develop and execute sound strategies for minimizing overall tax liability. We also advise clients in the US Virgin Islands and the United States on investments in other Caribbean islands and in Central America, and on investments from those jurisdictions into the US Virgin Islands.
Tax Controversies - We have significant experience representing clients in tax controversies involving the US Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue and the US Internal Revenue Service. We work closely with our clients to determine the best path forward, drawing on decades of experience to achieve favorable results.

This includes comprehensive tax planning for income, property, gross receipts, and excise taxes, as well as qualification for economic incentive programs and resolution of tax controversies.
